Dang it! I was so happy when I saw that stuff, too. I guess I'll see if I can memorize the Chinese characters for acidophilus.

I have actually seen a commercial for Activia. It's not necessarily a girly parts yogurt, but for people who eat a bunch of food and then feel bad (like Thanksgiving). It is a cure for the effects of gorging yourself or eating foods you know make you feel bad. I think it's irresponsible, or at least seemed that way from the way the commercial framed its purpose. Makes me think of vomitoriums.

According to the Consumer Reports bit, Dannon actually trademarked "bifidus regularis," which leads me to believe they named it as well.

Sort of like in the old Road Runner cartoons, when they'd give fake Latin names to the Road Runner and Wily Coyote.

Ok, that makes more sense now. I thought it was a Chinese brand, which was weird, because this isn't exactly the most open culture when it comes to honest discussions of lady crotches. And does anyone else have to repress a snicker when they see that the name of the bacteria responsible for digestive health is bifidus regularis?

Not that it matters, because it looks like Dannon's full of crap (ha!) anyway: http://www.flex-news-food.com/pages/13752/Danone/usa_dannon_sued_probiotic_bacteria_claim
